Goed artikel. Ik worstel ook met de betaalmodus, maar dan voor tekstschrijven, en zal inderdaad overwegen die verschillende opties in te voeren. In ieder geval merk ik dat puur ‘de klant bepaalt’ bij de opdrachtgevers op weerstand stuit. De klanten willen die verantwoordelijkheid er niet bij. Zijn bang om te weinig of te veel te betalen.

I agree that value can be perceived in many contexts. I like the way in which jonathan coulton has created a fanbase which pays for music “after the fact” after he delivers the creative commons music to the audience.

I think what I learn from this is that an audience can become a commmunity, who think of paying for music not as paying for a commodity, but as part of the joy of supporting that community.

I do not mind music being sold as a product, but
to me the way in which music has become purely a product misses all the other ways in which music can be heard–and even sold.
